Florida Citrus Bowl Demolition Ceremony

WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Florida Citrus Sports invite the Central Florida community to a demolition ceremony to commence reconstruction of the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

WHEN:
Wednesday, January 29, 2014
10:00 a.m.
***Media must arrive by 9:30 a.m.***

Appropriate construction attire is required (no dresses, shorts, skirts, open-toed shoes or heels.)

WHERE:
Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium
1 Citrus Bowl Place
The program will be held on the field of the Florida Citrus Bowl stadium.

BACKGROUND:
Since opening in 1936 as a public works project under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration, the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium has undergone numerous expansions and name changes over the years. Now, the stadium is about to undergo major demolition and reconstruction allowing it to draw new, high-profile events like neutral-site NCAA college football games, NFL pre-season match-ups and concerts.

All-new features include:
newly constructed lower bowl
vibrant open-air exterior façade
expanded 360-degree main concourse
new lower bowl seating with six more inches of leg room in each row
club level with both enclosed & open-air seating
10,000 square-foot party deck
suites on west side
multiple LED video displays

PARKING:
ATTENDEES:
Parking for attendees is available in parking lots 6, 7 and 9 (east side of stadium) at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

PRESS:
Press parking is located in parking lot 4 (east side of stadium) at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

DIRECTIONS:
Eastbound on S.R. 50 / Colonial Drive:
– Head east on S.R. 50/Colonial Drive, head north on Tampa Avenue, east on Church Street and north on Rio Grande Avenue and proceed to Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium entrance.

Westbound on S.R. 50 / Colonial Drive:
– Head west on S.R. 50/Colonial Drive, head north on Orange Blossom Trail, west on Church Street and north on Rio Grande Avenue and proceed to Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium entrance.
