Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill will donate over $50,000 to Fisher House Foundation, supporting military and veterans
ORLANDO, Fla., June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — During Flag Week, June 15-19, anyone who visits a Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill location nationwide and dedicates their limited-time-only, All-American burger, created by Executive Chef and Army veteran Jason Gronlund, sharing via Twitter & Instagram with #RedWhiteAndBBQ will be donating $2 to Fisher House Foundation ($1 for purchase of burger, $1 for photo upload.)
The Fisher House Foundation provides temporary free lodging to the families of injured military or veterans, so they can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis and has saved military families an estimated $282 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.
All veterans and military will also receive 10% off their purchases at Smokey Bones—a discount the organization, with deep military ties, honors year-round.
In addition to the in-restaurant & social media donations, Fisher House Foundation homes across the country will be accepting food donations from Smokey Bones all week long so families of injured service members will enjoy a meal at no charge during this special week.
Smokey Bones has committed to donating over $50,000 to the military charity in 2015.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity,” said Fisher House Foundation president, David Coker. “The donations will make a huge impact in supporting our mission of providing a ‘home away from home’ for the families of our wounded or critically ill military and veterans.”
A recent kick-off event was held, which brought in injured service members including Iraq-Afghanistan, Persian Gulf and Vietnam active duty and veterans who have been directly impacted by Fisher House Foundation’s work, Executive Chef Jason Gronlund, Fisher House Foundation representatives, and Chris Artinian, President and CEO of Smokey Bones.
