On Thursday, December 17, CEO Don Harrill presented a $10,000 check and more than 3,000 toys to Johnny Magic, the celebrity DJ and founder of the XL 106.7 BabyDJ children’s charity at the company’s Orlando holiday gala. The charity said more than 1,000 children in Central Florida had presents to open this year due to the toy donation. Nationwide, employees collected over 4,000 toys and $23,000 dollars in employee and corporate donations for local children’s charities.
“Kemmons Wilson founded our company on the philosophy of always giving back in impactful ways to our local communities throughout each year,” said Don Harrill, CEO of Orange Lake Resorts. “I’m proud to say this legacy of giving now spans more than three decades, 6,200 team members and 26 resorts. This year’s charitable efforts show how our team members continue the tradition of being connected to the communities where they work and live, and their strong desire to support them. It’s an important part of who we are as an organization.”
Over the course of 2015, the company has continued its philanthropic efforts with national and globally focused charities. These include Give Kids the World, Christel House International, Easter Seals and Clean the World, among others. In 2016, the company will begin a new partnership with Special Olympics to further expand its charitable footprint nationwide. Through resort-specific and company-led fundraisers, 5K races and corporate donations, more than $440,000 was raised and donated in 2015.
“I continue to be moved by the compassion and generosity of our team members,” continued Harrill. “It’s no surprise to me that in the year we grew the most as a company, we also contributed the most to our local communities. For both team members and our valued customers, this is an exciting time to be a part of our growing Orange Lake Resorts family.”
