New Attractions, Experiences Heat Up a Summer Vacation in Kissimmee

KISSIMMEE, FL (April 13, 2015) – The fun is heating up in Central Florida, so grab your flip-flops and sunscreen because there’s no better time than now to book a vacation in Kissimmee, Florida. From special events and new thrills to bird’s eye views and star-studded encounters, here’s a look at the latest Kissimmee has to offer visitors looking for sun, fun and theme parks!

Wild Florida Airboats & Wildlife Park is adding a new adventure to its slate of activities: an all-terrain Ranch Buggy tour through one of the state’s oldest working cattle ranches. Go back in time to experience ‘real’ Florida and see firsthand the birthplace of cowboys and ranching in the United States.

Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center is reimaging dockside dining! Sunset Sam’s set sail in January for its permanent voyage in the great restaurant abyss. MOOR restaurant is scheduled to open at the resort this May and will feature New World Floridian cuisine incorporating a farm/sea to table movement. The end result will be an upscale casual restaurant with private dining and an outdoor terrace that will overlook the Coquina Lawn.

Fun Spot America Theme Parks has partnered up with one of Central Florida’s original attractions Gatorland to create GatorSpot: a 15,000-square-foot attraction in Fun Spot Orlando that will boast alligators, including an albino gator, a gift shop, photo opportunities and more!

Staying in Kissimmee also is the best way to experience one of the newest attractions in Central Florida. Enjoy a bird’s eye view from The Orlando Eye, a 400-foot observation wheel located at the heart of the I-Drive 360 complex. Scheduled to open May 4 along with Madame Tussauds, the world’s most famous celebrity figure wax attraction, SEA LIFE Orlando a 25,000-square foot aquarium attraction and Skeletons: Animals Unveiled! the first-of-its-kind museum exhibiting over 400 skeletons in clever never-before-seen poses and dioramas. I-Drive 360 will be the most talked about attraction this summer and just minutes from Kissimmee.

Step into paradise at the Oasis Club, a luxurious clubhouse featuring a resort-style swimming pool with a lazy river, a tiki bar and a splash pad for the little ones. While the kids are busy having the time of their lives, grab a poolside lounger and lift up the yellow flag located on the back. Within seconds, a pool attendant will be right over to take your order. Not posh enough? How about renting a private air-conditioned cabana stocked with refreshments, a private bathroom and personal attendant to cater to your every need? Kicking off with the “Coolest Summer Ever,” enjoy 24 hours of nonstop fun during a special event May 22-23 at the Magic Kingdom, hosted by Olaf, the summer-loving snowman from Disney’s blockbuster animated hit “Frozen.”

Stars from another galaxy invade Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends starting May 15. Guests can enjoy special shows, presentations and dining options, as well as encounter Star Wars celebrities such as Ian McDiarmid — a.k.a. Emperor Palpatine — and Franz Oz, the man who gave Yoda his voice. Events run each Friday to Sunday May 15 – June 14 and is included with park admission.

Laugh to a new sea lion show, Clyde and Seamore’s Sea Lion High, get thrills on roller coasters – like Manta and Kraken – and chills at Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. Top off the evening with rides under the stars, a special nighttime Shamu show and a fireworks finale that fills the sky. And what’s a celebration without surprises? The “SeaWorld Surprise Squad” will roam the park on a daily basis giving away prizes and special gifts, including exclusive access to rides, behind-the-scenes experiences, Shamu-themed merchandise, reserved show seating and more.

Located just a short drive from Kissimmee, LEGOLAND Florida welcomes a new land based on the popular LEGO Friends line of toys this summer, Heartlake City. This colorful and vibrant new land will include a new ride themed to Mia’s love of horses, Mia’s Riding Adventure, plus a new interactive show called “Friends to the Rescue,” as well as Stephanie’s News Room and shops inside Heartlake Mall.
