Get Trained During National CPR & AED Week

June 1-7 is National CPR & AED Week in the City of Orlando to encourage more residents to get trained through our Take Heart Orlando initiative and get connected with our Pulse Point app.

My top priority continues to be the safety of our community and working with our residents and businesses to keep our neighborhoods a safe place to live, work and play.

One of the ways we do this is through our Take Heart Orlando Initiative, which offers free hands-only CPR/AED training. Since we launched Take Heart Orlando in 2013, more than 25,000 residents have been trained. Our goal is to train EVERY resident in hands-only CPR.

After completing the Take Heart Orlando training, the Orlando Fire Department encourages residents to sign up for PulsePoint. This free mobile app alerts CPR-trained bystanders about a nearby sudden cardiac arrest event allowing them the option of providing immediate life-saving assistance and also lets them know the location of the closest publicly accessible AED.

The combination of the Orlando Fire Department’s fast response rates, our trained residents, strategic AED placement and the PulsePoint mobile app makes Orlando one of the safest cities in the country if you experience cardiac arrest.

Together, we will keep Orlando a safe City.
