ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/– Miss New Hampshire’s Outstanding Teen, Allie Nault, was crowned Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2016 on Saturday, August 1st at the Linda Chapin Theater in Orlando.
As the organization is celebrating its tenth anniversary, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen (MAOTeen) is redefining what “pageant” means, both to participants and to the rest of the world. The organization has grown to become one of the nation’s leading achievement programs, providing girls ages 13 to 17 a platform to share and express their viewpoints, demonstrate their commitment to community service and healthy living, pursue their education dreams, and serve as positive role models throughout the country. The Clearwater, Florida-based nonprofit is also one of the world’s leading provider of educational scholarships for deserving young people and has developed mentoring programs and community-based initiatives.
Allie’s triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take her all over the country during her year of service as Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2016. She will travel speaking to audiences about her platform “Making $ense – Becoming Financially Responsible” and acting as the official National Teen Goodwill Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals. CMNH is the national platform partner of the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization.
Allie is a 17-year-old student at Gilford High School. She is the daughter of Richard and Karen Nault and resides in Gilford, New Hampshire. Along with the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2016, Allie won a $25,000 scholarship provided by the Harris Rosen Foundation and the Orlando Scholarship Foundation, Inc. towards her college education. For the talent portion of the competition, she performed a dance/twirl routine to a Lady Gaga mix. Allie was also named the recipient of the “Teens in Action” Award for her outstanding commitment to her platform. She earned an additional $1,000 scholarship for this award.
The first runner-up was Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen, Addy Jackson, who earned a $10,000 scholarship. Her talent performance was a contemporary dance and her personal platform is “Be the Blessing.”
Second runner-up honors and a $7,500 scholarship were awarded to Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen, Audrey Ferguson. Her talent was a vocal performance and her personal platform is “SPEAK to Stomp Out” (dealing with bullying).
Third runner-up and the winner of a $5,000 scholarship was Miss Arizona’s Outstanding Teen, Jessi Gradillas. Her talent was a vocal/guitar performance and her personal platform is “Empowering Students with Disabilities.”
The winner of a $2,500 scholarship and fourth runner-up was Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen, Carrigan Bradley. Her talent was a pop vocal and her platform is “Don’t Stop the Music.”
Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen, Lauren Watson, was the winner of America’s Choice, an online competition where viewers were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite Miss America’s Outstanding Teen contestant. The announcement was made at the beginning of the show and she became the 10th Semi-Finalist to compete in the finale.
