Smoke alarms save lives. Statistics show that almost two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
The Orlando Fire Department (OFD) wants to change those stats and is going door-to-door to ensure every resident is equipped with a working smoke detector in their home. As part of Fire Prevention Week, OFD’s annual Smoke Alarm Blitz campaign is visiting several neighborhoods including Signal Hill, Dixie Belle, Johnson Village, Haralson Estates and Monterey.
Help us reach our goal of visiting all of our neighborhoods. Click here to request your free smoke alarm and OFD will visit your home to install.
Keeping Orlando safe is my top priority and over the last 10 years, we’ve made a significant investment in public safety. Just last month we began construction on Orlando Fire Station 2, the new site for one of the busiest fire stations in the country.
Plus we continue to train residents in hands-only CPR. Our Take Heart Orlando initiative has trained more than 30,000 citizens with the knowledge, skills and ability to recognize and treat sudden cardiac arrest.
