June 6, 2016 – ORLANDO, FL – In preparation for Tropical Storm Colin, the City of Orlando continues to monitor the storm and prepare. We also want to encourage our citizens to stay informed and prepared. City of Orlando updates for citizens to be aware of are as follows:
Yard Debris and Pickup
The City is asking residents to help us prevent flooding but not to placing tree trimmings or any types of loose waste or yard debris at their curb.
During a severe weather event, these items can clog storm drains which may result in flooding of property and/or the street.
At this time, normal yard waste pick up for Tuesday is expected to continue as normal, however, citizens are encouraged to hold their yard waste if possible.
Recreation and Community Center Closures
All City of Orlando Community Centers, Recreation Centers and Pools will close today at 3:00 p.m.
Additionally all sporting and event activities, scheduled programs and have been canceled after 3:00 p.m. today and this evening at the City’s Recreation Centers, Community Centers, Parks and Recreation Facilities.
