Debris Drop Off:
There will be two (2) public drop off locations for clean vegetative debris in bags, bundles or that is loose. No household garbage or building materials allowed. Commercial services and vehicles are not allowed. Proof of City residence is required. For their safety, customers should wear closed toed shoes at these drop off sites.
The drop off sites will be open:
Tuesday, October 10 through Sunday, October 16
7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The locations are:
110 Andes Avenue, next to the OPD Training Center, just north of the East/West Expressway (map)
1042 Mercy Drive, just north of the intersection of Mercy Drive and Fairvilla Road (map)
Residential Debris Pick Up:
The City is working on adding 5 additional claw trucks which will help us to double our efforts in debris pick up to clean up quicker.
These are planned to integrate into regular yard service.
Residents should place debris into bags and bundles near the curb, but a few feet away from their trash cart to ensure the claw is not obstructed.
Residents should separate tree and vegetative debris from building material debris. These items are taken to different locations and separation of them will assist in ensuring pick up as quick as possible.
Additionally, it’s important to remind residents not to put any building material or construction debris into their regular garbage or waste.
City Street Debris:
The Street Sweepers are already out and helping to start the clearing of City streets of debris to help prevent debris from getting into our storm drains and causing flooding or other issues.
The City is also working on adding additional dumpster trucks to assist our Street Sweepers in clearing the debris from City streets quicker.
Typically, in the height of leaf season it takes us 2 weeks to clear all City streets. The current storm debris from Matthew is estimated to take an entire month. The additional dumpsters will help us cut this time frame down considerably.
