Are you a fan of the ‘Diners, Drive-ins and Dives’ TV show or discovering authentic local cuisine? Then you won’t want to miss these four upcoming episodes airing in April and May on this popular Food Network program. Celebrity Chef Host Guy Fieri will give you the inside scoop on six hidden Orlando restaurants you may want to include in your next Orlando vacation itinerary!
First up on April 21’s “Wonder Women” episode, celebrating powerful female chefs, Fieri visits The Meatball Stoppe near Orlando International Airport, featuring traditional meatball dishes as well as unique combinations like the Buffalo Chicken Meatball Smash Sandwich. Also on this episode will be Se7ven Bites in the up-and-coming Milk District in downtown Orlando, offering Southern breakfast and lunch dishes alongside mouthwatering bakery treats like Salted Caramel Bacon Cinnamon Rolls.
On April 28’s “Multicultural Cooking” episode, you’ll get a taste of authentic Puerto Rican fare at Willie’s Pinchos, located north of downtown Orlando and featuring mofongo fresh-to-order. You’ll also get a glimpse of Orlando’s thriving food truck scene (we actually have the most food trucks per capita in the US!) in this episode, with The Pastrami Project, a classic NY delicatessen food truck located near Winter Park.
“Turkeys, Taters and Dogs” will air May 12, showcasing Mrs. Potato Restaurant, which features larger than life Brazilian potato creations like the Chicken Catupiry (pulled chicken and Brazilian cream cheese) and is located near the theme parks.
Last but not least, on May 26 “Burgers, Beed and Barbecue” will take a deep dive into Vietnamese restaurant, Saigon Noodle Grill, in downtown Orlando’s Milk District. Interestingly, Orlando is home to the largest Vietnamese population in Florida. If you want more delectable Vietnamese cuisine, check out the Mills 50 neighborhood in downtown Orlando.
Be sure to set your DVR now to experience a taste of the diverse cuisine that makes Orlando a culinary hot spot for locals and visitors alike.
BONUS: Check-out Guy Fieri’s new restaurant, Planet Hollywood Observatory, which just opened in Disney Springs!
