Kick Off the Holidays at Tree Lighting Celebration Dec. 4
Join Mayor Buddy Dyer to kick off the holiday season during the annual Downtown for the Holidays Tree Lighting Celebration on December 4. The free event at the Lake Eola Park amphitheater begins at 5 p.m., and will feature a countdown leading to the lighting of the 74-foot Christmas tree, decorated with 88,000 animated lights.
The eighth annual Tree Lighting Celebration will include a 15-minute Eola Wonderland Christmas tree show, TheDailyCity.com Food Truck Bazaar, Trinity Lutheran School Christmas musicals, festival vendors and holiday performances from Encore! Cast Performing Arts and Violectric.
Encore! Cast Performing Arts’ is dedicated to providing Disney Cast members and their families an outlet for creativity and expression. Their performance at the Tree Lighting Celebration will include more than 100 singers and musicians. An electric orchestra, Violectric will play holiday favorites.
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which helps more than 3,500 underprivileged children, will be accepting monetary donations during the event. IDignity will also be in attendance to provide information on how the community can assist in the efforts to help disadvantaged residents obtain personal identification.
The tree lighting portion of the event will be televised live on News 6.
