Celebrate the Holidays at Free City Events

The City of Orlando offers a wide variety of things to do for the entire family throughout the year and the holidays are no exception. To get you started, we’ve compiled a list of some of the FREE things you can do this holiday season.

From shopping and celebrating in our main street districts, to the City’s official tree lighting and movies in the park, to concerts, the ballet and pub crawls, we’ve got it all!

December 3 Holiday on the Drive: Join the College Park Partnership Main Street District on Edgewater Drive for a Christmas tree lighting, live music, Santa Claus and more.

December 4 Tree Lighting Ceremony: Join us for the lighting of the City’s official 72-foot Christmas tree, live music by the Encore! Cast Performing Arts, Violectric, Trinity Lutheran School’s holiday musical and TheDailyCity.com Food Truck Bazaar.

December 5 Holiday Concert at Lake Eola Park: The award-winning Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra performs holiday favorites benefiting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Network.

December 5 Twelve Pubs of Christmas Pub Crawl: Mills 50 Main Street District invites residents to take advantage of drink specials throughout the night at their favorite bars as they travel via O-cartz around Mills 50.

December 6 Light Up Downtown South: Join Downtown South, a City of Orlando Main Street at Lake Beauty Park for the annual Christmas tree lighting, a visit from Santa, music and more.
December 11 Holiday Movie at Lake Eola Park: Enjoy a free outdoor viewing of Elf staring Will Ferrell at the amphitheater.

December 12 SantaCon: Thornton Park Main Street District invites you to tour Thornton Park and enjoy drink specials at participating restaurants and bars in your best Santa Claus costume.

December 13 Christmas on Church Street: The Church Street District hosts 200 Big Brothers Big Sisters participants with the lighting of a 32-foot Christmas tree, cookies, crafting and more.

December 18 Holiday Movie at Lake Eola Park: Enjoy a free outdoor viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey.

December 19 The Nutcracker Performance by the Russian Ballet Orlando: Celebrate the holiday season with The Nutcracker, featuring unforgettable characters, dazzling costumes, onstage blizzards, timeless choreography and Tchaikovsky’s extraordinary arrangement performed live by the Russian Ballet Orlando.

December 26 Holiday Movie at Lake Eola Park: Enjoy a free outdoor viewing of A Christmas Story.

And, every night through January 6, 2016, Eola Wonderland’s 72-foot Christmas tree will come alive with a synchronized light and music show.
