MCLEAN, VA (PRWEB) APRIL 26, 2016
Support, expertise and practical tips for every stage of life – all will be featured at the 2016 Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) National Food Allergy Conference, to be held May 14—15 in Orlando. The exciting program will provide attendees with the knowledge they need to live well, stay safe and thrive with food allergy, a potentially life-threatening and life-altering disease.
Speakers at this year’s conference include food allergy researchers, allergists, community advocates, youth leaders, school officials and dozens of others with knowledgeable insights into the challenging world of food allergies. These leading experts and panelists will give families and adults managing food allergies the unique opportunity to ask questions on the wide range of issues that accompany a food allergy diagnosis. The FARE National Food Allergy Conference is one of FARE’s signature educational programs and has long been a “must attend” event for anyone affected by food allergies.
“When you or your child is managing food allergy, a potentially life-threatening disease, questions arise at every turn – how to stay safe at school or on campus, what rights do you have, how do you recognize anaphylaxis, and how close are we to a cure?” said James R. Baker, Jr., MD, CEO of FARE, who will be speaking on updates in the area of clinical research. “We understand the challenges of managing food allergies and we are here to support families and adults and to provide them with evidence-based best practice strategies and answers.”
The FARE National Food Allergy Conference is the only national patient conference of its kind. Whether an attendee is newly diagnosed or a food allergy veteran, there are educational sessions for everyone, as well as a full track for teen attendees. Highlighted sessions include “Life, Health and Hope: Advancements in Food Allergy Research and Care,” “Food Allergies and the Law: Understanding Issues of Equal Access, Safe Inclusion and Individual Rights,” “Transforming the Devastating Diagnosis,” “When Anaphylaxis Happens – A Teen’s Experience and Perspective,” “Nutrition Challenges Made Simple, Safe and Healthy,” “Adapting to Adult Food Allergies With Assurance” and much more.
In conjunction with the conference, FARE is pleased to also offer a special training session for school nurses as part of its cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Meeting the Needs of Food Allergic Students at School” will be held May 13 in Orlando. Speakers at this session will help school nurses in attendance identify strategies from the CDC’s Voluntary Guidelines for Managing Food Allergies in Schools and Early Care and Education Programs and provide action steps to implement food allergy management and prevention plans in their home schools.
