Project: Time Off Week is May 25-29 . The week encourages residents put vacation days to use and plan a Central Florida staycation!
We all know the best place to travel to is Orlando, so here are our top 14 ideas for your vacation here at home:
1. Take a Ride on a Lake Eola Swan Boat
Swan Boats are available to rent at Lake Eola Park. What a great way to pedal around the park, check out the fountain up close and see a swan or two.
2. Go Fishing at Bill Frederick Park
Rent a B.A.S.S. fishing boat and troll about the beautiful well stocked lake and take your luck with a few casts.
3. Catch a City Soccer Game at the Citrus Bowl
Grab your favorite purple shirt and head over to the Orlando Citrus Bowl for an Orlando City Soccer match or visit an official watch party in Downtown Orlando to cheer the Lions to victory.
4. Go Paddle Boarding on Lake Ivanhoe
Take advantage of this great weather and get outdoors. Lake Ivanhoe is nestled in the heart of Ivanhoe Village providing lots of great stops for a snack or lunch after a beautiful day paddling.
5. Take a Stroll around Harry P. Leau Gardens
Visit this 50-acre botanical oasis just minutes from the heart of Downtown Orlando and stop to smell the roses.
6. Enjoy a Movie in the Park at Lake Eola with Movieola
Grab your picnic basket and a blanket and head over to the lawn at Lake Eola and watch a movie on the big screen.
7. Go for a Bike Ride on one of our Bike Trails
Enjoy a scenic bike ride through The City Beautiful. There are lots of great paths, such as the Orlando Urban Trail. Don’t have a bike of your own? Try out Juice Orlando Bike Share and rent one for the day.
8. Catch a Show at Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center
Check out The Orlando Ballet’s production of Swan Lake or Broadway Across America’s Anything Goes.
9. Watch an Arena Football Game at the Amway Center
Catch all the thrilling, heart-pounding excitement of Arena Football with the Orlando Predators at the state-of-the-art Amway Center in Downtown Orlando.
10. Have a Picnic at one of our Parks
With over 100 parks in The City Beautiful, it’s a great time to get outside and enjoy a day in one of our parks. Many parks feature playgrounds for the kids to enjoy, as well as grilling stations and pavilions to help you grab a little shade.
11. Enjoy a Farmers Market
Farmers Markets are a great way to buy food from local vendors in a fun environment. Bring the kids or make it a date day each Sunday at the Lake Eola Farmers Market.
12. Play a Game
Head over to one of the many recreation sites like Blue Jacket Park at Lake Baldwin to play a game of tennis, basketball, volleyball or softball with your friends.
13. Visit a Museum
See a dinosaur at the Orlando Science Center, take a step back in history at the Orange County Regional History Center, or peruse art at the Orlando Museum of Art and the Mennello Museum.
14. Grab your boat or kayak and head out on Lake Underhill
